Why the Mountain West Climate Matters
Concrete coatings fail faster in the Mountain West than almost anywhere else in the country. The high desert environment presents a unique combination of threats: extreme freeze-thaw cycles that expand and contract concrete, high-altitude UV rays that yellow cheap epoxy, and heavy use of corrosive road salts like magnesium chloride during the winter.
We built High Desert Armor because standard big-box DIY kits and thin water-based epoxies simply cannot survive these conditions. We mandate that our regional partners use mechanical diamond grinding to achieve a Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) of 2 or 3, ensuring a permanent mechanical bond. We specify 100% solids industrial polyaspartic and polyurea materials because their inherent flexibility allows them to move with the concrete during rapid temperature swings without cracking or delaminating.
